Hereford Prime Foundation
The Hereford Prime Foundation was established to study the performance of Hereford cattle in the feedlot. The foundation will collect
and store tissue samples from Hereford cattle in the National Hereford Feedout test managed by the Kansas Hereford Association.
These samples can eventually be analyzed for DNA to identify the genetics that contribute to superior feedlot performance and carcass traits.
This is a long term project and it may be several years before the first analysis is completed but this is an excellent opportunity
for small breeders to learn which genetics contribute to superior feedlot performance. It may also be possible to identify new markers,
specific to Herefords that influence IMF, REA, ADG, Feed Conversion, etc..
